Simply Cloth Pro
Introduction
This documentation should help you to understand this addon and his helping you to setup cloth objects fast and easy. The Cloth settings in Blender are becoming more and more complicated and make it difficult to achieve the desired results quickly.
Why the addon is helpful
With this addon you can create Cloths in Blender faster and easier than before. You don't need a lot of previous knowledge with the Cloth physics settings! You can simply select a presets and quickly adjust them to your needs. Of course some basic understanding of Blender is required. The addon is a help tool to set up quickly and test your cloth objects in Blender!
Just a comparison
Current case
You have to test a lot with the parameters and learn them until you get your desired result. A lot of testing and correcting of the values to get close to the desired result is normal here! This can take a lot of time!
Optimal case
You select a preset and adapt it to your needs. With a few adjustments and a few tests, you will get close to your result faster than before.
Overview Video
Installation
Select the .zip you downloaded and activate the addon.
It is displayed as Simply Cloth in the category (N-panel) on the right
That's it!
Usage
Apply Cloth
Creates a static mesh from the currently displayed state. The mesh is no longer a Cloth Object.
Active/ Visible
Standard activated (Cloth is simulated)
deactivated (Cloth is not simulated)
Remove Cloth
Deletes the Cloth Settings and returns the mesh to its original state. The mesh is no longer a Cloth Object
Apply Modifier
Saves all cloth settings and applies the modifiers, the mesh will still be a Cloth Object.
Presets
Contains a number of presets standard and advanced cloth examples
Check Face Orientation
Displays the front and back in a new view.
Blue= Front Red = backside
It is important in this case when using Pressure. There the orientation of the standards is crucial that the Pressure feature of Blender works correctly
Finish Editing (Edit Mode)
In edit mode you can also see the face orientation, but you can also flip directly. If the orientation of the mesh is not correct everywhere. Just select a face from the " incorrect" piece and press “Flip Normals”
With "Done" you are done editing and switch directly back to object mode to test the simulation and properties of the cloth
Cloth Parameter
Cloth Quality
Set the number of simulation steps per frame. Higher values result in better quality, but is slower.
Collision Quality
Set the quality of the collision for the Cloth
Weight
The mass of the cloth material in kg
Stiffness
General stiffness
Folds
Adjusts the general formation of folds and wrinkles
Wrinkles
Adjusts the smoothing of the wrinkles.
0 = smooth to no wrinkles
1 = fine wrinkles
Shrink
Adjusts whether the cloth object contracts.
positive values = Cloth shrinks
negative Values = Cloth expands
Smoothing
Smoothes the entire cloth with creases and mesh
How to Reset changes to Default?
Just select the Standard Preset
Advanced Settings
Sewing
If activated, you can set the strength of the stitching
Sewing Tool (Edit Mode)
Select Mesh Bounds (Sewing Tool - Edit Mode)
Select Bounds selects the bounds from the mesh so you can sew them together if necessary.
Recommended for pillows or blankets
Create Sewing (Sewing Tool - Edit Mode)
Mark your edges in the mesh in the Edge selection and select "Create Sewing" seams
Remove (Sewing Tool - Edit Mode)
Detects (not always) all Sewings and removes them.
Clean Sewing Holes (Sewing Tool - Edit Mode)
If you have used Sewings in Cloth, you can easily close them with the slider. After the "Apply Cloth" you can switch to Edit Mode and have the possibility to close the holes that were created after the Sewing or other actions. These can be closed easily with the Clean Sewing Holes Intensity. Slowly increase the intensity to close only the parts that need to be closed.
Spring
When activated, sets the tension similar to a spring.
(Can affect the Sewing strongly. Please be careful)
Pressure
If activated, you can set the strength of the pressure (+values = expand, -values = contract). In addition, you can increase the strength of the intensity with the factor.
Pinning (Object - Edit Mode)
Edit Mode
Remove Selected
Deletes ONLY the selected pins (vertex points) from the current pinning list
Create New Pins
Confirm your current selection and you will switch to Object Mode back.
Wireframe
When active, it displays the wireframe of the mesh (helpful to see the resolution of the mesh)
Mesh Subdivisions (Edit Mode)
+ Increases the resolution of the entire mesh by 1 iteration
- reduces the resolution of the entire mesh by 1 iteration
Density Paint
if selected, it is activated. It will switch to Weight Paint Mode to paint the density of the Cloth mesh. A Density group is created and assigned directly
Red = fine resolution
Blue= rough Resolution
This may be needed to add or remove detail at certain points in the cloth. It can also lead to glitches in the cloth, because the mesh does not have enough resolution at certain areas Please also use it with care
After painting the Weights switch back to Edit Mode (Tab), the mask is activated.
Check the new generated wireframe with the Wireframe Button (increase the level of subdivisions to see better working of the Density Paint Feature
Cloth Simulation
Efficient playback of the simulation. Please use this to test your cloth object which use simply cloth settings.
Bake cache
Bakes the current cloth simulation up to the current frame to get a smooth playback
Bake to Keyframe
Bake the cloth simulation to Keyframe to get the animation as keyframe animation
Clears the baked cache simulation
Gravity
Adjusts the gravity of the clot (not of the scene)
Speed
Adjusts the speed of the simulation.
Simulation Duration
Here you set the start and end frame of the Cloth simulation.
On Play the simulation is started.
If subdivision modifier is available, it will be disabled to allow faster simulation.
Reset current state to restart the simulation.
Collision
Select your Collision Mesh and press Activate.
The object can have a collision and be a Cloth object at the same time. So you can have several Cloth objects colliding during the simulation
Friction
Set the friction of your selected Collisions Mesh directly
Remove Collision
Removes the Collision Modifier from the selected object
Pin Group - Live Paint
Paint your pins directly on your Cloth mesh during simulation and immediately see the effect in Weight Paint mode!
Strengthen by Selection
In Edit mode, select the area in the Cloth Mesh you want to strengthen and add your selection with one click.
Use the Strength Slider to adjust the Strength. During the simulation
0 = no strength
100 = full strength
Pressure - Live Paint
For simply release pressure with your selection to the Simply Pressure Group in Edit Mode!
Or weight paint live in Object Mode during simulation and see directly the effect.
Simply Pin Layer System
Simply create a pin group like never before and simply fade it in and out with a slider. Add more layers and assign a new selection as pin and slide the intensity to your pleasure.
Turn each layer on or off to see how it affects the simulation.
For each layer you can insert a hook directly and drag it around in object mode during the simulation to influence your cloth.
Simply Sewing
With the new feature your sewings will be connected directly during the simulation and there is no more gap between the sewings.
Based on the Merge Distance you can adjust the intensity of the sewing. But you can switch the feature on and off with one button
Standard Sewing
Simply Sewing
Sewing Help
count how many vertices need to be selected to get clean sewing
Auto Sewing (WIP)
after finishing the cloth just hit this button, and it will auto close the sewings directly on easy objects. If you have multiple sewings crossing this could cause mesh issues.
Cut and Sew Edges (WIP)
Edge selection in edit mode will cut this part and sew it directly with one click
Fast Edit
Rotate Faces, Select Mesh Bounds, Select Sewings
Collision Inner/ Outer Thickness added
Just change the inner and outer thickness of your collision mesh in the collision area
Rotate/ Poked Faces - Topology for Testing
This function is only there to check the wrinkle and detail of your Cloth Mesh and apply it if necessary. If you select Rotated Faces or Poked Faces, a duplicate will be created and the original hidden and excluded from the simulation. So you can test safely and quickly.
-
The rotation of the Faces causes a better wrinkle throw, depending on your needs you have to test it.
-
With Poked Faces you have a much higher detail density, but it reduces the performance during the simulation because of the higher vertex count.
UI in Edit Mode
Cloth Library
Here are some simple objects for a perfect start with Simply Cloth Pro
You can customize them as you wish.
Sculpt Mode Brush Presets
With Sculpt Cloth you have an intuitive transition to the Cloth Sculpting Tools to add details or adjust the mesh!
Easy access to cloth sculpt brushes in Blender with a nice selection
Masking
Masking is used to quickly invert or delete your mask
Once you have selected the brush, you can directly adjust the hardness
Resolution
Here you can quickly create your mesh resolution subdividen or un-subdividen as usual.
Remesher
Here you can select the approximate number of faces and start the remesher process!
Display
You can quickly switch the shading between smooth and flat.

Draw Cloth Sets | Extract Face Sets
Easy draw on your character, extract the drawing as a cloth object, and adjust it with Cloth Enhancement.
Attach to Cloth
Select an other object which should attach (like pocket) to cloth object
Skin Tight | Skin Tight from Selection
Allows you to directly assign a selection in Edit Mode as a tight-fitting object. Very good for tight clothing such as swimsuits, underpants etc. The whole thing also works from the Cloth Sets function. You draw the desired area on the character or any object and select the marker and get a garment directly without modeling!
Optim Cloth
A duplication is created here and attached to the simulation object so that it receives the simulation data but is not calculated itself. You can make the object high-resolution and add many details without affecting the speed of the simulation. You therefore have a basic resolution object and a high resolution object. This Optim Cloth helps to maintain the Cloth performance of the basic resolution object and applies the information to the high resolution object
Cloth Enhancements (Geometry Nodes)
with which you can add extra details to the garment or cloth object. During the simulation or afterward. Mesh will not be edited by this feature. You can easily turn on/ off the additional adjustments.
Bend Selection
Bend specific parts of your cloth object in edit mode, so you have better control for belts or arms which should be bent around the character
Triangulate Selection | Rotate Face
Add more details trough triangulated topology on selected parts or full object in edit mode.
Selection to Cloth
Select some faces in edit mode and get directly pressured cloth object from selection with one click.
